Stay warm – while looking cool! Lisa Kusner from Aurora Farms Premium Outlets is here with fashionable – yet functional – winter wear!
Question: Let's start with gloves and mittens. Which ones are better for keeping warm?
Answer: Mittens are actually better because you have your fingers right next to each other and they keep each other warm
Mittens can also be fun to wear – and, as you can see, very colorful.
We even have a mitten that doubles as a glove.
The top, which is like a mitten, can be pulled up and folded over to reveal your fingers in a knitted glove with your fingers exposed.
This lets you use your fingers when you need them and then cover them back up to keep them warm.
While mittens keep your hands warmer, many people prefer gloves, most likely for the dexterity they offer.
Popular materials include leather, suede and thinsulate.
With thinsulate, gloves are actually getting thinner – and warmer!
And, while mittens are either “one size fits all” or “small, medium and large,” many gloves have more individual sizes to get a better fit.
Question: A lot of our body heat escapes from our head. So what have you got to cover that up to keep us warm?
Answer: There are fashionable hats, like tams and berets, that are popular right now. And women’s hats, in general, are becoming more structured, kind of like a fedora.
There are also knitted hats that you can pull down over your ears – but they may give you "hat hair!"
You’ve also probably seen this kind of knitted hat – with what looks like pigtails down the side – very popular.
For men, there are berets as well, along with caps. You may even find a fedora or two, inspired by Indiana Jones.
Knitted caps work well for men, too.
And some men prefer a work-type hat if they are doing a lot of work in the yard.
And, for both men and women, ear muffs keep your ears warm.
There are the kind we remember from when we were growing up.
There are also ear muffs that are almost like socks for your ears – you just put them over each ear individually.
However, if you’re looking for true warmth, I would still recommend a hat as opposed to ear muffs.
Question: Is this a hat? Or a scarf?
Answer: It’s both! It’s a scarf with a hood so you can cover your head – and wrap it around your neck for warmth. Poshminas are still popular and feel great.
And, of course, cashmere never goes out of style – and keeps you warm.
Again, knitted styles work for both men and women.
And, in all of the winter wear, you’re seeing a lot of color, as you can tell.
a. Instead of staying with browns, grays and blacks, color is being used to really make the item pop!
Staying warm never looked so good! My thanks to Lisa Kusner. And for more hot ideas on winter wear, check out Aurora Farms Premium Outlets. The information is next.
