Remembrances Video Booth
Show #328 Airing Sunday, 1/22/06

When a loved one dies, sharing stories and memories about the person’s life can be a source of comfort to those left behind. Mark Busch, co-owner of Busch Funeral and Crematory Services, joins us to discuss a new, innovative way those stories can be gathered to commemorate a special individual.

Question: We’ve talked before about things those left behind can do to memorialize their loved ones. Why is this so important to those who are left behind?

Answer: It’s a way to reflect on the life of the person who has past and to celebrate it.   There are picture boards, booklets, slideshows…many ways to memorialize a loved one.

Question: One such way to remember the deceased it through a eulogy, right?

Answer: Yes. But some people are very uncomfortable standing up at a microphone, in front of a group of people, and speaking. They would like to tell some memories of the deceased, but are afraid to do so.
Now, however, we can offer a way to do so in private with the Remembrance’s Video Booth.

Question: What is a Remembrance’s Video Booth?

Answer: It looks like a piece of furniture with sliding doors on the outside. Inside, it’s like a photo booth. It allows those attending the visitation to share remembrances of the deceased in a private setting.

Question: How does it work?

Answer: The family of the deceased provides photos for a slideshow that can be shown during visitation. At the same time, the video booths are available during visitation at the funeral home. The person using the booth sits down in front of a computer screen, which activates the lights. You touch, on the screen, the photo of the deceased you would like to leave a message about. You follow the instructions and leave a video recording of whatever remembrance you would like to record (anecdote, story, etc.)
Overnight, the video is loaded up to videographers who edit the video memories and the family photos together into a remembrance video that can be played at the funeral.
It allows you to provide your own reflections on the person who has passed without having to get up in public.

Question: This technology can be used for more than a funeral remembrance, correct?

Answer: Yes. It’s available for any kind of tribute.  Anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, retirements. Instead of having a person with a video camera go around and shove a mike in guests’ faces, each can go into the booth and leave a message.   We used it recently for our 100th anniversary party.
There are about 35 of these available nationwide. This is the only one in the Cleveland area.

Question: How can you get access to use the booth for a "happy event", like an anniversary?

Answer: Call us.

Paying tribute to a loved one can be so meaningful in times of sadness or celebration. To learn more about a Remembrance Video Booth, give Busch Funeral and Crematory Services a call. They’ll be happy to answer any questions, or to send a free brochure.
