Show #539 Airing Sunday, 9/5/10
The school bell has rung and eager students are waiting in their seats. Today’s lesson plan? Creating a fabulous smile that will put you at the head of the class! Dentist Steve Marsh is here as our “study buddy” to share his notes on ways to ace this assignment.
Question: You have some examples of folks - students, teachers, parents - who have graduated to a better looking smile! Tell us about them Dr. Marsh.
Answer: First we’ll start with a couple of students who were going to have their senior pictures taken. The first was an athlete who wanted to model. However, her teeth were really a mess; there were badly discolored, they had brown and white stains. She had previously had bonding, but it was not a success. So, we took off the bonding and gave her porcelain veneers. And while she wanted this new look, her parents also wanted her to have it. They wanted her to have her smile back.

Question: What about student number 2? I understand his new smile was an award winner!
Answer: When he came in, he hated his teeth! They were mottled/had white spots. We used veneers with him as well. And he ended up receiving the “best smile award” at his school!

Question: What about teeth test tips for those of us that are a bit more "old school"?
Answer: Sure. Maybe you’re a parent who wants to smile during those parent teacher conferences. Here’s a patient who has kids in school – and who wanted to learn about creating a great smile.

Or you might be able to relate to an assistant principal who was a patient of mine.

Question: For a lot of us, the only time we'll be "seniors in school" again is at a class reunion! And we all like to look our best for those!
Answer: That’s true – including a fellow student of mine! He wanted his smile back before the reunion.
