Smiles for the Kids
Show #357 Airing Sunday, 9/24/06

Do your kids cringe when you open your mouth? Are your teeth so bad that they scare your grandchildren? Never fear, Dr. Marsh is here to tell us about how a quick fix makeover can bring a smile to the faces of you and your family. With Dr. Marsh is one of his smiling patients, Beth Mayer.

Question: Dr. Marsh, last time you joined us, we talking about fixing teeth step by step. But I understand makeovers don't have to take a lot of time.

Answer: If the patient is ready, dental work can be completed in just a few appointments.
What's most important, however, is that the dentist and the patient take the time to sit down and have a consultation. What does the patient want to have done? We then go over treatment options, and work on a schedule with which the patient feels comfortable.

Question: Beth, why were you interested in having dental work done?

Answer: My four kids grew up with braces and all had beautiful straight teeth. So even though my teeth were not horrible, this was always something that I wanted to have done.

Question: And you decided you wanted it to be done quickly?

Answer: Yes. I went in for a consultation. Dr. Marsh took the time to go over all my options and explain everything, really calming my fears. I decided since I knew I wanted the work done, and since I lived far away, we would do it in as few appointments as possible. And it was easy, quick, and pleasant.

Question: Dr. Marsh, can you walk us through the process of Beth's dental work.

Answer: Yes. She came in last October 12th. We sat down and talked about her concerns. We also took many photos to help us review her options.
As you can see, her teeth were crooked in the front, leaning in towards each other, and there was some decay in the back teeth.

The side view shows that some of the teeth in the back are dark.

After discussing options, Beth decided she wanted to proceed. One week later, she came in and we prepared her upper teeth. November 3rd, less than a month from the first appointment, we finished her upper teeth.

Within two months, her entire mouth makeover was complete.

Question: Beth, how does your new smile feel?

Answer: Great. I'm really glad I had it done. Now people have told me and my kids that we all have the same smile, and that feels good.

Improving your smile can put big smiles on the faces of your children and grandchildren too. To learn more, give Dr. Marsh a call. My thanks to Dr. Steve Marsh and Beth Mayer.
